In a recent developer journal, Ivan Grozev, the lead game designer, discussed the new features, emphasizing the importance of tools in the survival genre. The Survivor Tools, which players can craft and equip, vary in function—from passive bonuses provided by items like the Good Luck Charm to active effects triggered by the EM Umbrella and Grenades.

The decision to introduce these tools stemmed from a desire to elevate the gameplay mechanics and provide players with more strategic options. Each survivor can carry only one tool at a time, adding an intriguing layer of complexity as players must decide which tool best fits their current situation.

Among the new offerings, players will find the Respirator Mask, designed to protect survivors from the adverse effects of Toxic Ash and Dust Storms, allowing them to explore without suffering health penalties.
