In a recent Developer Journal, Lead Game Designer Ivan Grozev shared insights into the new "Trading Outpost" scenario. In this scenario, players will engage with a group of adventurers who embark on a journey to an unexplored planet. Their mission is to establish a thriving settlement through building, crafting, trading, and overcoming various challenges. The Trading Outpost scenario is designed to accommodate diverse play styles, particularly for those who enjoy developing permanent settlements and witnessing their evolution over time.
One of the key features of this update is the introduction of a trading system that allows players to engage in resource exchange with passing interstellar ships. Players will utilize a Trading pod to transport goods, and every item will be assigned a value in Galacticoins, the game’s interstellar currency. Additionally, players can post job offers on an interstellar communication network to attract workers to their settlements, adding a layer of strategic gameplay.
The update also introduces Vicente Santiago, a new survivor known for his skills as a rancher and a shrewd businessman. Vicente’s unique trait allows him to negotiate favorable trade deals, making him a valuable asset for players looking to expand their settlements.
