Stranded: Alien Dawn Introduces Mod Tools and Steam Workshop Support

In an exciting development for fans of the simulation and strategy game Stranded: Alien Dawn, the highly anticipated Mod Tools and Steam Workshop support are set to launch with Update #3. This feature has been a top request from the community since the game’s Early Access debut, and the team at Haemimont Games is eager to unveil it.

Kali, the Associate Producer for Stranded: Alien Dawn, shared insights into this new update and its modding capabilities. The update equips players with the same tools that the game designers utilize to create game content, allowing them to modify existing features and create entirely new content. The modding environment is designed to be user-friendly, offering a separate space for testing modifications. Additionally, the developers have prepared sample mods and comprehensive documentation to facilitate the learning process for new modders.

For those with prior experience in modding, particularly with Haemimont’s previous titles, navigating these new tools should be relatively straightforward. Initiates into the modding world will have the opportunity to explore existing items, learning how to adapt and customize them to fit their vision.

Alongside the modding tools, four official mods will be available on the Steam Workshop starting February 28. These include:

  1. Blue Moss Expedition: A new expedition that introduces a unique resource used to create a mood-enhancing tea for survivors.
  2. Meat Plant: This mod unlocks a plant that produces meat, easing food acquisition for players.
  3. Landing Pod Statue: Modifies starting resources to include stone and introduces a decorative statue of the landing pod, complete with a Blender scene for custom asset integration.
  4. New Survivor: A mod that adds a new playable character with distinct traits and happiness factors.

The development team is eager to see the variety of mods that the community will create, confident that player creativity will lead to unexpected and innovative contributions.

As part of the modding support, sample mods will also be available to help players understand the functionalities of the editor. These samples demonstrate how to connect various game elements and include coding examples necessary for successful mod creation.

While players will have extensive freedom to modify game content, it is important to note that map editing will not be supported in this update. However, players can still alter nearly every other aspect of the game.

The Steam Workshop will serve as the platform for sharing and subscribing to mods, fostering a collaborative community of creators.

To celebrate the launch of these features, a live demonstration showcasing animal taming and the new mod tools will take place on February 28 at 3:00 PM GMT, streamed on Twitch and YouTube.

For ongoing updates and community engagement, players are encouraged to join the Stranded: Alien Dawn Discord and follow the game on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
